The Second Annual Chef Challenge Was A Success

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

Last Thursday, October 13th 2022, exceeded our expectations! This is thanks to everyone who was involved with the planning, setting up, and to our sponsors and guests.

Our local chefs this year were:

David Adlar- Candle In The Woods

Ken Glessner- Bardenay

Patrick Hughes- 315

John Minichino- Kootenai Health

Greg Nehlich- Private Chef

Alec Tomkins- Latitude & Sweetwater Bakery

Our chef judges for this event included:

Columba Agular; 2021 CDAIDE Chef Challenge Winner

Pete Tobin

Laurant Zirotti

The Nights Highlights:

As you can see in the video and the pictures below, the chefs appetizers were amazing. It was hard to pick which appetizer to vote for, but in the end Chef Jeff Minichino won the people’s choice award With his Wild Mushroom Gnocchi with Tuaca Rosemary Sauce.

Also thanks to Jeff Messinger and his crew from Shooters our crowd was fed excellent food throughout the night.

Our emcees (Rose Back, Katie Brodie, and Jeff Messinger) did a great job in providing a night of entertainment that was far from boring as they talked us through the entire event.

We would also like to acknowledge our volunteers! Without them we could not have been successful. They checked people in, helped sell raffle tickets, and made the check out process smooth.

Up next was the mise en place challenges where all six chefs were narrowed down to four. Those final four remaining chefs competed head to head while our Executive Director, Jason Nye, gave us a moving reminder of what our hospitality workers face along with examples of how we’ve been able to help.

When time was up, our chefs gave our three judges a big decision to make with four appetizing dishes laid out in front of them. All of our chefs waited anxiously until the announcement was made and after it all Chef Columba Agular was able to pass on her belt to the winner of this years Chef Challenge…Greg Nehlich!

We hope everyone who attended had a great time. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year and we hope to see you all again in April for our Care Affair.
